Report on the Multilingual “Climate and Energy Transition for All” Evenings

Report by Rayan Younis (Leids Steunloket Migranten) on the First Evening of the Multilingual Evenings “Climate and Energy Transition for All”: A Collaboration between Leids Steunloket Migranten and Solid Sustainability Research.

Yesterday marked the start of the “Climate and Energy Transition for All” series of evenings, an initiative that came about through the fruitful collaboration between the Leids Steunloket Migranten (LSM) and Solid Sustainability Research. The evening opened with great success, introduced by delicious vegan hot meals from World Kitchen, social catering provided by the LSM, and accompanied by the pleasant sounds of the electric guitar played by our friend and guitarist Bas. Many thanks for that. We would also like to extend a special thanks to all LSM volunteers who cooked and helped with love.

A special mention also goes to our wonderful partners at Solid Sustainability, Aaron Pereira and Linda Knoester, for their excellent preparation and content knowledge on climate. They made sure the information was accessible to the audience. What a warm evening it was, and we would like to emphasise our goals for these evenings: knowledge sharing and stimulating discussions. Our sincere thanks go to all the chairs of the discussion tables for their expert and enthusiastic leadership.

For the upcoming evenings on climate, on 8 March Arabic and Dutch language and 12 April Persian and Dutch language information evenings that will be held in both Dutch, Arabic and Persian, we cordially invite everyone. It promises to be a fascinating experience where different sounds and languages come together, including Arabic and Persian.

At LSM, we are ‘cultural mixers’: our projects contribute positively to building a modern, multicultural society. We encourage interaction between different cultures and people. In times of crisis and loneliness, we act as a social and community buffer. We strongly believe in the power of cooperation, which brings about change.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this first evening. Together, we are building an inclusive and diverse community!
